FIRST WORDS

Flying High with Technology
The last few weeks have been truly exciting for technology professionals and enthusiasts. Even as the country has witnessed a fascinating series of high technology events, the Government of India, which had been very proactive in terms of technology takes- made yet another major initiative for proliferation of technology adoption. India’s Union Budget, this year, made two significant initiatives relevant to technology industry- setting up a Task Force on animation, visual effects, gaming and comics (AVGC) segment, and initiating special measures to promote wider adoption of drone technology.

Both the measures stand to bring immense benefits to AudioVisual industry and allied segments. We hope the ideations, and propositions take shape as they were intended, and at the pace they are supposed to move with.

SI Asia takes pride – in the particular spirit of freedom as well as the opportunity it unfolds for the prospects of AV – to have captured and make it as the Video of the Month this time.

Samatha Murthy: Mapping Equality with 3D Projection

In a country where statues with technology sophistication contribute to counting ‘tall’ (s)takes, this might not surprise many; however, it does ‘sit out on high’ and strong pedestal of spiritual socialism powered by a spatial technology. In the process, it does score a few firsts and seconds contributing to technology tourism even as it seeks to elevate and unite people’s thinking. That’s the Samatha Murthy – or the Statue of Equality – a 216-feet tall sitting statue of 11th century saint Ramanuja. A huge sculptural ensemble that the statue is, in reality, the high-profile place is also a space of high technology stakes for audio-visual domain.

SI Asia tries to get the tech spades that made the modern abode of the saint.
