| Mapping the Projection, of Revolts & Reverence
It might sound rhetoric, but that’s what I feel happening around. And for a good reason, it’s all happening for ‘Azadi’ of some kind or the other. When the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav began a few months ago, we began watching unfolding of myriad stories of projection mapping on forts and prisons, besides high-profile centres.
Even as we keep watching these stories of reverence, we came across a new, rebellious mode of projection mapping across the border- in our neighbouring island country Sri Lanka that is reeling under unprecedented economic crisis. That people with some wherewithal have gathered enough AV equipment to map and project their protest on the country’s Parliament building on the island is a new reckoning of projection mapping.
So, we may construe to say projection mapping is going places, quite literally. An exponential growth- exploring newer horizons every time, and perhaps, newer ways of application and understanding technology, which is good.
As for this issue, SIA India serves you with two ‘largest’ projection mapping stories of the land- one created on a man-made structure, and the other on a ‘god-made’ structure. (We actually had to hold back some, and we will discuss those in the coming months).
Watch them, and enjoy.

VIDEO OF THE MONTH: India’s Largest 3D Projection on Natural Surface |
3D Projection Mapping is nothing new, and more so in India – thanks to the exponential growth of Infotainment segment, of late – with every big occasion turning into an event of projection mapping. This one, however, is different. In that, it is a rocky mountain surface, in very rough terrain, and the largest natural surface thus far in the country.
Moreover, it is permanent. It’s been nominated for a place in the Limca Book of Records as the ‘biggest 3D Projection Mapping on Mountain Hills in India.’
‘Engineered’ by Rhino Engineers, and integrated by Tricolour India Schauspiel, the project was inaugurated recently by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel, and is a phenomenon by itself in Indian infotainment sector.
We present a glimpse of the same in our Video Of The Month. |

Jhansi Story Comes Alive in India’s Largest Projection Mapping |
Jhansi Fort… the very name spells a hair-raising spirit of Freedom. A battleground that symbolizes a very different kind of bravery…. A vibe that involuntarily vibrates the mind and body of every Indian, reminding one of the lady who personified a rebellion against a draconian colonialism… A queen who took to battleground in a fairy tale sort, and laid down her life in defence of Independence. That fort, and its story is again retold in all its glory by means of a spectacular sound and light show. Creating in the prideful storyboard is Pan Intellecom, and glowing the fort in all its vivid colour is Digital Projection – a Delta Display Solutions concern – in association with Dataton WatchOut.
